What I have learned is that for beekeeping and even in life, timing is everything. When you raise and are aware of bees you look at life differently. The way a bee colony works, they’re so dependent on each other, and us we’re way more dependent on each other than we will ever realize too.

“Whether you’re an engineer, a chef, or a teacher, pollinators play a role in your life,” she says. By recognizing the connections between bees and our daily lives, we can each make choices that support pollinator health and environmental stewardship. In this way, we all become part of something much bigger—one bee and one bite at a time.

“Students would sometimes ask, ‘When am I ever going to use this?’ and I’d try to teach them that some equations in math are beautiful in and of themselves.’
The lesson of the bees—their work ethic, cooperation, “how it all just works together”—is visible and deeply inspiring. The colony itself is a living equation, a place where theory and reality align with breathtaking precision.”

Founded in 2012, Save the Bee is a 501(c)(3) non-profit on a mission to help bees and humans thrive.
Bees are crucial to our survival, pollinating 75% of the fruits, nuts, and vegetables that keep us healthy.
Bees enable forage for our livestock, fiber for our clothing, and of course, honey! Yet, bees face critical threats from pesticides, diseases, and habitat loss.
Save the Bee funds research on bee and hive health, plants millions of square feet of pollinator habitat, and inspires and educates the next generation of beekeepers, bee enthusiasts, and bee habitat stewards.
